AJU Instructor Sheila Stephens Publishes Book

Sheila L. Stephens - former police officer, ATF special agent, and presently, Criminal Justice instructor at Andrew Jackson University - has written a book on private investigation—and more. The Everything Private Investigation Book, the latest book in the Everything Series (published by Adams Media of Cincinnati, Ohio) provides information about starting your own business, education and training, ethics, marketing, and money matters.

This book takes the reader through some of the most common - and not so common - investigations: divorce, infidelity and child custody; missing children/spouse; elder/child abuse investigations; private security; corporate and workers compensation investigations; as well as special investigations and investigators. There is even a step-by-step walk through of a murder scene investigation.

The Everything Private Investigation Book also takes the reader through the steps of working a case; protecting and processing a crime scene and its evidence; working with contacts and interviewing or interrogating witnesses and suspects; the legal use of surveillance; and testifying in court. There is a section on surveillance equipment and its use, along with a discussion of the pros and cons of covert cameras and audio/video equipment. Many links to research tools and online sources are included.

An extensive section on how to protect children from onsite and online predators is one of the best reasons to buy this book, whether you are an investigator, a parent, or merely a concerned citizen. A must-read!
