Why our model works
How can AJU provide the highest quality education at the lowest possible price?
It’s easy enough; we are disrupting the market as we reject the premise that schools must spend thousands of dollars per student on marketing.
At the DETC Fall Education Workshop I attended recently, an “enrollment management” company presented their solution to provide enrollments for the DETC’s member colleges and universities. The presentation began with a slide that was titled “All roads should lead to leads.” I almost fell out of my chair right then - this presenter completely failed to grasp that all roads should instead lead to the enrollment of students who want to achieve their objectives. All this company cared about is collecting information on potential students and selling that information to schools - at a premium price.
Later in the presentation, the company presented a cost slide that showed a price of $60 per lead, and a 3.5% (lead-to-enrollment) conversion rate...that's a total cost per enrolled student of $1,714.
Whoa. One thousand, seven hundred and fourteen dollars to enroll one student in a college? What about retention/attrition? What about graduation rates? If you factor all that in, that’s over $10,000 per graduation.
Sure, that company "only wants leads" - what they want is to pick $10,000 out of the pockets of each student who graduates. That is incredible.
At Andrew Jackson University, we want our students to keep that $10,000 for themselves. By coming up with a creative - and disruptive - way to address marketing, we have eliminated most of that cost. Our marketing partners allow us to create an easy, quality flow of student inquiries while keeping our costs down. As a result, we are not spending that $10,000...so we are not including those marketing costs in the price our students pay.
It's simple, it's easy – my question to the education industry is “Why isn’t everyone else trying to do the same thing?”
Don’t buy into these lead generators' schemes – they don’t care about education – they only care about collecting and selling leads…."all roads lead to leads"? Well, that’s not a road that AJU will travel.
Our roads allow our students to Take Education Anywhere at the lowest possible price – it’s a road less traveled, but paved with success!
