Give Me Chocolate or Give Me Babb

On Saturday, March 7th, it was all sweet talk on Fox Business Network’s, “Your Questions, Your Money.”  No, not as in “Sweet nothings whispered in your ear,” but as in Chocolate – lots of Chocolate.

Prime time front and center was Sean Askinosie of Askinosie Chocolate.  Sean has a great story to tell. For years, Sean was an attorney and worked some very high profile cases. He was getting burned out in his profession and was looking for a change, so Sean made The Big Move, became an entrepreneur and started Askinosie Chocolate.  Askinosie is one of the only “bean to bar” chocolate producers in the world, and Sean’s products are well thought of.

Sean spent most of the hour giving advice to callers and explaining how he made it through the downturn.  After the world fell apart during the initial banking crisis in September, Sean saw a big drop off in his business.  Fortunately, with the support of his family and friends, Sean was able to persevere through a couple of rough months.  The good news is that business is now up for Sean, year after year.  In order to hit his sales volumes,  Sean got into the export game and took advantage of a low dollar and fairly straightforward export rules. Sean is now running a thriving business and is proof positive that it’s entrepreneurs who are really America’s bailout!

However, even Sean’s brilliance could not hold a candle to the real star of the show – caller Mary from Arkansas who is looking to start her own “sauce” business with her daughter.  The amazing thing about Mary is that she wants to start her first business at the young age of 70!  Yes, 70 years old and Mary wants to be out front helping entrepreneurs rescue America.   Mary was so engaging that, at one point in the show, John Rutledge offered up a marriage proposal for his son.  Perfect! Chocolate and Love – should have been a Valentine’s day show!

As for Babb and Rutledge – another strong effort from the pair along with co-hosts, Dagan McDowell and returning Tracy Byrnes. (Who was that other lady who filled in last week?  All I can say is Tracy, WELCOME BACK!)

Saturdays on Fox Business Networks – this is fast becoming your sponsor for great advice.  And speaking of sponsors, how about that Sponsored Tuition Program at Andrew Jackson University?  Armed with your sponsor, you really can Take Education Anywhere!

Happy watching,
Don Kassner
