FSA forms are simplified, but it might be time to move away from government aid

President Obama announced changes in the Federal Student Aid application that makes applying for student loans much easier.  However, with state budgets in crisis and with tuition rising at a faster rate than inflation, now is the perfect time to look for institutions who are not relying on federal aid to support student enrollments.   A recent report by a Chicago based investment firm raised concerns about federal regulations that are tied to FASFA participation.    Many in the industry are looking for private market alternatives that deliver high quality education at the lowest possible price without placing restrictions on total enrollments and thus, providing access to affordable education to more people.
